so i just heard the news that Jay Reatard has passed away in is home n Memphis. I was a long time fan and a great admirer of his music and his energy. The man lived music and nothing else since he was just a little kid. It seems unfair. In a time where everyone with a little bit of commercial success with their art sells out to car/phone/energy companies Jay Reatard never did. It wasnt about that for him, he didnt work his whole life to see his art being used to sell a stupid car. It was about playing fast rocknroll and no one else on this planet did it like him. He was DIY to the bone. Lived of his music and the people paying to go see his shows. I feel there was a lot more to come, new sounds and new songs.
Farewell to one of the last real original free independent artists on this planet.
hope to see him one day again.
